Organic food no healthier than non-organic

Despite all the hype, organic food usually isn’t any better for you than non-organic food if you’re judging by the vitamin and nutrient content, according to a recent study.

However, organic foods do have fewer chemicals, such as pesticide residue and antibiotic-resistant bacteria, according to research conducted by Stanford University and the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System.

Still, at least one expert is recommending consumers spend the extra cash and buy organic, because it has less exposure to pesticides. Chensheng Lu, who researches environmental health at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, said, “If I was a smart consumer, I would choose food that has no pesticides. I think that’s the best way to protect your health.”
