Most Employers Form Opinions of Job Interviewees Within 10 Minutes

If you’re looking for a job, make sure you make a good first impression.
According to a survey of human resource managers by Accountemps, 60% of them make up their mind on a candidate within the first 10 minutes of a job interview. And nearly one in five . . . 18% . . . draw conclusions in five minutes or less.
The average amount of time it took to form a positive or negative opinion was 10 minutes . . . here’s how long managers said they took to make up their minds:
Five minutes or less: 18%
Six to 10 minutes: 42%
16 to 30 minutes: 26%
More than 30 minutes: 1%
(The remaining 13% were either somewhere in between or undecided.)
