OLYMPICS: Medal Prize Money
August 3, 2012 - 1:42 pm | Category: Money
Olympic athletes are not paid for their participation in the games, but American team members who receive a medal are paid a cash prize by the U.S. Olympic Committee.
The real pay day is in endorsements and marketing deals, of course, but the prize for a medal isn’t chump change either.
Gold medal: Being the best in the world is worth $25,000.
Silver: Every silver medal is worth $15,000.
Bronze: Third place will get you a $10,000 cash prize.
