Americans Throw Away 40 Percent of Our Food Every Day

Americans throw away about 40 percent of all our food, according to a recently released study.

The report, released by the National Defense Council, examines inefficiencies in our food production system, which runs from the farm to stores to our homes and restaurants. It found that we throw out approximately $165 billion each year or 20 pounds of food per person each month.
