It wasn’t another miracle on the Hudson, but there was an aircraft on the Hudson River yesterday. It was the space shuttle Enterprise, which rode on a barge from Jersey City, New Jersey before reaching its new home at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

On its way to its destination, the Enterprise floated by the Statue of Liberty, the World Trade Center site and Manhattan’s other landmarks, while it was accompanied by a flotilla of ships, including police, fire department and even a yellow taxi boat.

Some locals were impressed. Multimedia producer Tara Gore said, “There’s so much going on in New York that you can walk out of your office and see the space shuttle floating by.”
