In a heartening show of bi-partisan cooperation with less than a week before the election, President Obama and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie joined forces Wednesday in New Jersey to view the devastation from superstorm Sandy and offered words of support for residents, rescuers and each other.

Obama praised the Republican governor, who has backed Mitt Romney, for his “responsive and aggressiveness” in dealing with the disaster and his efforts to bring back electricity and drinking water to the affected areas. Obama said, “I just want to thank him for his extraordinary leadership.”
Christie added that he and the president have had “a great working relationship” and praised Obama for his “concern and compassion” for New Jersey residents, adding the president “sprang into action immediately” to deal with the disaster.
