On eve of debate, conservatives seize on Obama video from 2007

The conservative website The Daily Caller released a five-year-old speech in which then-Senator Barack Obama praises his former pastor, the controversial Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and suggests that the federal government discriminated when doling out aid to Hurricane Katrina victims.
Some of the video was aired on ABC’s World News Tonight back in 2008, but The Daily Caller founder Tucker Carlson said their coverage was based on an edited video.
In the full version of the video, Obama suggests that the government didn’t assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina victims as well as they aided victims of disasters in other parts of the country.
The Obama campaign said the release of the video is a “transparent attempt” by “Mitt Romney’s allies” to change the subject away from Romney’s recently leaked campaign video in which he implied 47 percent of Americans are freeloaders.
