Ref penalizes team because middle school band is too loud

In Texas, a football referee was fired for flagging a middle school band.

Before halftime, the referee threw a flag and warned the home team would be penalized if the school’s band continued playing.

The band director, not wanting his school’s team penalized, pulled his kids off the field.

The referee ended up getting fired and the home team received an apology from a district athletic official.

It’s unclear whether the band was flagged for breaking a rule – or because they were so bad.
