Athletes all over the world will soon compete in London’s Summer Games. A former Olympian suffered a huge loss Thursday when burglars broke in to his parents’ Artesia, California home and stole a safe containing his two bronze medals.

Rusty Smith won a bronze in the 500 meter short-track speed skate during the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City and another bronze in the 5,000 meter relay in the 2006 Winter Games in Turin.

The safe was hidden in a closet and bolted to the floor and also contained some credit cards and passports.
