In a sort of who’s-on-first Internet business deal, IAC’s Ask.com has bought About.com from The New York Times Company for $300 million.
In a press statement issued early Monday (ET), IAC CEO Greg Blatt called the acquisition of About.com “completely in line” with the company’s strategy and said the two businesses were “complementary and synergistic.” Ask.com specializes in searches, while About.com is a content site.
