FACEBOOK: “Stalking App” Removed

Facebook quietly released and its “Find Friends Nearby” app yesterday (Monday), and then just as quietly removed it this morning. The app, which is for your mobile device, would allow you to find people close by — even if they aren’t Facebook friends. Critics had been calling it the “Stalking App,” because it could lead to potentially awkward and even dangerous situations.

However, according to CNet, the removal has nothing to do with the “Stalker App” criticism. Facebook says it was just testing the program, but apparently it has been accused of stealing the idea from a company called Friendthem.
