Owning a smartphone is sometimes thought to be a distraction from work, but a new British study has found that owning a smartphone or tablet can add up to two hours to your workday.
By giving you access to emails at all times, smartphones and tablets give people no excuse to not get work done.
Researchers found that people with access to email on mobile devices worked, on average, 460 more hours a year than those who don’t.
The average working day is between nine and 10 hours – people with smartphones and tablets are working an extra two hours responding to or sending work emails, or making work calls.
