TWITTER HACKS: Jeep Hacked; MTV and BET Catfish

February 20, 2013 - 7:07 am | Category: Tech

Jeep was the latest company targeted by Twitter hackers on Tuesday, following a similar takeover of Burger King’s Twitter account on Monday. An announcement on the auto maker’s profile said that it had just been “sold to Cadillac” and had a new motto, “Just Empty Every Pocket.”

It also appeared that the Twitter accounts of Viacom media outlets MTV and BET were also the target of hackers, but it turned out that it was a hoax, with MTV later tweeting, “We totally Catfish-ed you guys. Thanks for playing!” and BET offering, “#fakehackedswag !!! salute to @MTV for rockin this!”
