Beer festival bans fake cocaine

Beer vendors at a German booze festival are putting the kibosh on one businessman’s plan to distract from their real buzz by denying him a permit to create a fake one — by selling artificial cocaine.

Wolfgang Stanek says he invented “Wiesn Cocaine” — or festival cocaine — for the event, using nothing more than granulated sugar and menthol. He’d planned to use barmaids in low-cut tops to sell the novelty, but the organizers of the Munich Oktoberfest contacted cops, saying the legal product could be confused with the real thing, thus causing potential problems.

For now, the ban is on, meaning only beer and real cocaine will be available at the event.
