Some Australians are calling for their government to lift a ban on fishing for great white sharks after a 24-year-old Perth man was mauled to death on Saturday. They say that the country’s reputation as the world’s deadliest place for shark attacks in hurting tourism.
Officials called off their search this (Sunday) afternoon for the great white, known as Brutus, who is believed to be responsible for the latest death. There is growing concern as there have been five shark attack deaths in Western Australia over the last 10 months.
Despite the risk, some local surfers say that shark attacks won’t keep them out of the water.
